Surprise face!

Heavenly Jobs

Okay, so I’m a nine on the Enneagram. When life feels stressful, I sometimes retreat into my imagination. It’s the way God wired me. I can’t help it. It’s partly why I have always loved Hallmark so much. All’s well that ends well. I think we can all agree that life as of late has been more stressful than usual. As it’s prone to do, my mind wandered the other day as I thought back to a sermon series I heard during quarantine about the afterlife. It was aptly called “What’s After ATX,” and it was ahhhhhmazing. You can check it out here. Anyway, in one of the sermons, the pastor talked about heavenly jobs.

More specifically, he discussed what jobs we may be given in heaven. Revelation 22:3 says, “His servants will serve Him.” We can imagine there are no shortage of tasks in heaven, but the work we will be performing there will be to the glory of God. Plus, it will be pure joy! We are going to have a job, and we are going to love it. Oh, happy day, right?

This got me thinking…what task or job might God assign to me? Initially, I thought God could assign me to the heavenly communications team. Is there a heavenly newspaper? A public relations department? How fun would that be? I would love to sit in a meeting with a team of heavenly hosts. Then, I thought, “Hmmm…what are some of my other skills and passions?” I pondered this for a bit before another idea dawned on me. It was one of these moments…

Those who know me well also know that I danced for more than 20 years. I lived it. I breathed it. Dance was my everything.

Heavenly Jobs

What’s not to love? Glitter, sequins, fringe…oh, my gosh.

Y’all, what if there is a heavenly dance team? We know there will be dancing in heaven. God created the human body and gave us the gift of movement, so of course, there will be dancing. Can you picture it?

The Heavenly Highkickers…

I mean, seriously. The Lord knows best, but if we are allowed to suggest a placement for our heavenly positions, sign me up for the dancing ladies!

With all the heavy we’ve had, it’s nice to have a little joy, too. I think this little tangent my brain took me on was a welcome delight to the stressful reality we’ve all been living since Covid. So there you have it. There’s no big revelation from me today. So I’ll leave you with this…

What do you think your heavenly job will be? Do you think God will use the talents and skills he’s gifted you with on earth, or do you think you’ll be given something else entirely? I don’t have the answer to that, but I know this. Whatever our heavenly jobs are, we will delight in doing them for our good, good Father.

Praying you are all well and finding joy with each new day!
