Ministry on the move!

The insanity of the past few weeks is tough to convey, but then just about all of my mommy friends are trying to survive the insanity of May.   Summer is almost here, ladies!  Normally, my girls and I would be getting ready to clear our schedules for nothing but pool time and summer Bible study.  With the launch of Becoming a Girl of Grace and preparations to begin another mother/tween daughter Bible study, my summer schedule isn’t looking quite as carefree.  God’s blessings are abundant, though, and you won’t hear me complaining!

I am so excited to share all of the exciting things unfolding with this new ministry.   One of those is the release of my first Bible study, Becoming a Girl of Grace.  With a new group of moms and tween girls, I will be writing and piloting the second Bible study in this series called Building Circles of Grace.  My emotions flicker between awe, excitement and pure panic.  The good news?  God is driving!  Here’s a sneak peak at the cover for the new study:

Another exciting development on the horizon is the plan for a mother/tween daughter overnight retreat.  Once the venue is secured (which should be within the next couple of weeks), I’ll be able to share more.  If things go as planned, the retreat will be held next March, and I think you are all going to love what we have planned thus far.  Please stay tuned for more details.  Your prayers are welcomed and cherished through this planning process.

One question I’ve heard a lot lately is, “Why did you decide to launch this ministry?”  Well, the answer is pretty simple.  I love being a mom…love, love, love.  No, it’s not always easy.  Yes, I sometimes feel like I’m taking crazy pills.  No matter what, though, I am always thankful God gifted me with the opportunity to be a mommy.  It’s life-changing.

When my girls were younger, being a mommy was about surviving in the moment.  My youngest darling didn’t sleep through the night until she was three-and-a-half years old.  That’s a long time to miss REM!  I’ll never forget the day my BFF came for a visit after another long night.  My sweet friend stared at me as I invited her into my house.  Then she smiled and said, “Aw, honey.  Your pants are on inside-out….(pause)…and backwards.”   😀   What can I say?  Tag-less clothes were made for mommies like me.

Thankfully, we outgrew that stage and moved into another.  Well, fast forward to last spring.  I scoured the shelves looking for a summer Bible study to do with my oldest love bug, and I could find nothing that was specifically designed for moms and tween daughters to share together.  That’s not to say those types of studies aren’t out there somewhere, but I could find none.  This is moment when God planted a seed in my heart to grow this ministry.  As I visited with other moms, I realized they were just as hungry as I was for this type of fellowship with their own mini-me’s.  Thus, Becoming a Girl of Grace and Girls of Grace Ministries were born!

Thank you, friends, for coming along on this journey with me!  It’s so exciting to think where God will take us.
